HEAL International is a youth organization dedicated to improving health and health care in underserved communities. In Arizona, HEAL International provides health literacy education and outreach, including HIV/AIDS prevention, train-the-trainer courses for outreach educators, and HIV curricula to non-profit organizations.

Frequently asked questions about running in AIDS Walk Phoenix
Where does the Walk/Run start?
[ Click to view Route Map ] The Walk will gather at 200 West Washington Street, Phoenix (Phoenix City Hall / Cesar Chavez Memorial Plaza). The route will head west on Washington making turning north to Adams and back to Washington twice before heading west on Washington past the Capital. The route turns south just behind the Capital to Jefferson and then turns south to Madison and back and continues down Jefferson to 3rd Avenue where it turns north and ends at Washington.
What time does the Run and Walk Start?
The Run will start promptly at 9:00 AM with the Walk to begin approximately 10 minutes after the last runner has passed the starting line.
What does it cost to Run or Walk?
The cost for the Run is $30 and the cost for the Walk is $25. The cost for late runner registration will be $35. Walkers may register the morning of the event at no additional cost.
Is the Run going to be timed?
Yes. The run will be timed by Raceplace Events.
Where do I pick up my T-shirt and bib?
You may pick up your T-shirt and bib from Thursday, September 29th until 5:00 PM on Saturday, October 1st at The Runners Den, 6505 North 16th Street (NE Corner of 16th St. and Maryland Ave.).
May I register at the morning of the run?
Yes. There will be a designated area for runners to register. However, the cost to late register will be $35.
May I run and walk?
Yes. After completing the run, you may walk the route.
May I run with my pet?
No. Pets are only allowed with the walkers. Running with your pet is dangerous to you, your fellow runners, and your pet.
May I create or join a Team?
Yes. You may create or join either a running team or a walking team. Even though you are a runner, you may join a walking team and walk with them after you complete the run.
If I join a walking team and I run, must I walk with them?
No. Joining a team does not require you to necessarily walk with them. The purpose of a team is to raise money and walk together, but you do not have to walk with your team if you have completed the run.
How will I get the results of the run?
The results will be posted at registration shortly after the run completes and can be found here later on Sunday after the race.
May I wear rollerblades, ride a skateboard or scooter, run the Walk, etc?
No. AIDS Walk Phoenix is a walking event only. However, strollers, wheelchairs, and pull wagons are welcome. You may of course run in the 5K Run, which is in advance of the Walk, but you may not run the Walk.
